The forced proximity romcom I didn't know I needed. Running into a streetlamp trying to break a soulmate curse is genuinely one of the funniest scenes I've read this year, but what got me was how the comedy never undercuts the emotional stakes, if anything it makes them hit harder. I've read a lot of enemies to lovers but something about Rowan and Julian felt different to me and I've been trying to figure out why since I finished it at 2am. I think it's because both of them are wrong about each other in such specific, believable ways, and watching those wrong ideas dissolve in real time, scene by scene, felt earned in a way that a lot of romcoms don't quite manage.

listen. LISTEN. I picked this up for the spicy MM content and stayed for what is honestly one of the most genuine explorations of what love actually is versus what we romanticize it to be that I've read in this genre. The humor and the banter is awesome and the emotional payoff is completely worth it. I can't believe this was free.
